The artistic practice of Nahla Tabbaa, a Jordanian Bangladeshi artist currently in Amman after a decade in Dubai, explores tensions between the urban and the organic, the beautiful and the grotesque. Sensitive to the self-organising agency of materials, she ventures into the world of immateriality and the intangible through experiments in alchemy, combining organic and non-organic elements. Her approach is intentionally slow-paced, meditative and labour-intensive, permeating strands of her daily life. Her practice navigates through gestural drawings, ceramics, alchemy, research and performance.
