Al-Ayoun's Sara Kontar and Diala Al Hindaoui curated a night of screenings comprised of a series of documentary short films exploring different aspects of current Syrian reality, sharing stories from various parts of the diaspora. The films employ diverse techniques, from experimental to more straightforward styles, offering a poignant and varied insight into the Syrian experience.

Films:
3350 KM - Sara Kontar 13” Syria, France
“Father and daughter have been separated by 3,350 kilometers for seven years. He lives in Syria, she lives in exile in Paris. All they have left is to talk on the internet.

As We Cross To The Other Side Of The Garden - Ameen Abo Kaseem 14” Syria
“In late 2018, war was over on the streets of Damascus. A whole generation was ready to start their fight against (for?) life. But soon it turned out to just be a beautiful unrealistic dream.”

FATME - Diala Al Hindaoui 15” Lebanon, France
“Fatmé, 11 years old, left Syria with her entire family to live in Lebanon, in a tent by a country road. Her messy hair, dirty clothes, and love of fighting spark debate among those around her. Her mother wonders: is she a girl or a boy? To this question, Fatmé responds with a laugh: ‘I just want to be the strongest.’”

Our Room - Safa Makdah 13” Lebanon
“Safa and her family live in a small room where they eat, sleep, and spend most of their time. Despite the difficult circumstances, Safa is determined to succeed in her secondary school exam and make her father proud.”

Al-Ayoun is a space for Syrian visual storytellers, both inside the country and in the diaspora, aiming to create a platform to convey the Syrian narrative by promoting communication, sharing experiences, collaborating on common artistic projects, and organising cultural events in the fields of photography and cinema.
