We invite you, in cooperation with the Fiction Council in Jerusalem, to attend the launch of the second edition of the book "Hidden Companions" by Ahmed Nabil.
This book, in its second edition, is the first publication of the Fiction Council within its program "Darb Al-Ghilan", which is concerned with documenting and transforming stories of the supernatural into contemporary literary and artistic material as an act of preservation so that they become the literary reference in the future.
The launch will include readings from the book and a discussion with the author about his experience in the Old City of Jerusalem in particular and in Palestine in general and the role of the supernatural and imagination in preserving collective memory and intangible heritage.
Copies of the book are available for purchase at the lesser amman library during the launch. The price of the book is 25 jod, and the proceeds of the book go to support the journey of the Fiction Council.
The Fiction Council is a Palestinian community-based non-profit organization in Jerusalem, founded in 2015 to serve as a creative space for the community, particularly young creatives, to explore and develop their imaginations. The Council's mission is to preserve and promote Palestinian intangible heritage, primarily in the fields of folktales, superstitions, and ancient legends, through all possible creative means. It also aims to bridge the gap between the community and their imaginative heritage, recognizing imagination as the Palestinians' ultimate tool for change.
Ahmad Nabil is a Jerusalem based Palestinian visual artist and researcher in the fields of Arab and Islamic mythology and paranormal phenomena.
