How do heirlooms serve protective roles, physically and sentimentally? This was the main question for the Matrilineal Space series of discussions. Over three sessions, MMAG resident Maria Khorzom explored with the participants the formation of the family home space through the matrilineal inheritance of objects and explored the relationship between this lineal inheritance and the material culture of the home. They also looked at the role those objects play as living archives, both bearing witness of a family's history and adapting over time.
