Anthropological Praxis

November 18, 22, 25, 29

Collective workshop

Facilitated by resident artist Haia Dakwar

On Saturdays and Wednesdays

This workshop emerges from the intersection of anthropology and art-making, inviting artists and practitioners across visual, performative, and research-based to reflect on their current or upcoming projects through an anthropological lens and with ethnographic tools.

Through a collective process, we will formulate anthropological questions that deepen, refine, and expand each artistic project. Together, we will explore various anthropological currents and work with ethnographic methods, culminating in participant observation and ethnographic writing, to uncover new dimensions that contribute to the development and construction of our works.

Haia Dakwar:

A Palestinian translator, researcher, and theatre-maker, currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Theatre and Performance Studies, and holding an MA in Cognitive Linguistics. She has participated as a performer and dramaturg in several international residencies and contributed to local and regional theatre productions in dramaturgy, criticism, and directing.

Her practice centers on the intersection between art and knowledge, exploring the possibilities of bringing anthropology into dialogue with theatre. This approach led her to establish the Theatre Lab Palestine, a collective space for experimentation and inquiry that seeks to advance artistic practice through a culture of critique, dialogue, and collaboration.
